I am pleased to announce to you that we've hired Bonnie Steele as our new Pastoral Care Minister here at St. Pascal Baylon Church. Bonnie's first day of employment with us will be Monday, August 6, Bonnie comes to us with 11+ years of experience in pastoral ministry in the Catholic Church. Bonnie's job duties here will include working with and coordinating the Social Justice and Caring Committee, the Eucharistic Ministers of Care to the sick and homebound, providing training and support to volunteer pastoral ministers, committee members and the parish community, guiding the funeral ministry of the parish by meeting with families, the Pastoral Associate for Liturgy, and me to plan funeral liturgies, promoting ministry to the elderly, homebound, hospitalized, dying and persons in crisis, and advocating for the needy and providing referrals for them. Please join me in welcoming Bonnie to our Staff! Thank you for your prayers and support following the death of my mother, Lillian, on Sunday, July 22. May she rest in peace. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. I will be taking a couple days of vacation this week and going to Duluth and the North Shore. I will be gone Sunday afternoon, August 5 until Tuesday night, August 7. I ll be back in the office on Wednesday morning, August 8. There will be no weekday Mass here on Tuesday, August 7. THEME BASKETS It s time to start creating theme baskets for the 2018 Fall Festival! Individuals, families, and groups are invited to contribute to this festival favorite. Feeling Creative? Here are some ideas to get you started: games, movies, sports, crafts, wine, chocolate, spa, cat/dog lover, cooking/baking, Legos, books, and more! Creatively Challenged But Want To Help? Consider contributing to a big ticket item such as a Fit Bit or ipad by making a donation via cash, check, or gift cards to Best Buy or Target. We ll do the shopping for you! Theme baskets can be dropped off at the parish office beginning August 7. Tickets for a chance at winning a basket will be available for purchase following Masses beginning the weekend of September 8 & 9. Help Needed! Can you help sell tickets before or after Mass the weekends leading up to Fall Festival? Or help set out baskets on a Saturday before the 4:30 Mass and/or take them down after the 10:30 am Mass the weekends of September 8/9 and September 15/16? Craft items might include crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, silk flower arrangements, greeting cards, quilted blankets, reversible totes, and more anything you might find at a craft sale or boutique. Proceeds from all goods donated and sold at the craft sale go to the St. Pascal's Fall Festival income. St. Pascal s Fun Bowling Mixer League is looking for regular season and sub bowlers for the season. 3 EARLY LEARNING CENTER Scholarship Opportunities Schulze Family Foundation Early Learning Scholarship Program Scholarships for 4-year-old children who will enter kindergarten the following school year. Scholarships range from $500 - $3,000 and will be sent directly to the preschool to pay tuition. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Early Learning Scholarships for children who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1 of the school year the scholarship is used. Scholarships are up to $7,500. Children s Liturgy of the Word Leaders Needed for Leaders are needed for Children s Liturgy of the Word on Sunday mornings during the 8:45 and 10:30 AM Masses beginning in October. Leaders reflect on the Sunday Scripture readings with children in grades K-4, and are normally scheduled one Sunday per month. Training and support are provided. 5 August 2018 Dear Parishioners: My name is Mike Kelleher and I am beginning my third year as chair of the St. Pascal s Fall Festival. I would like to take a few moments to give you some information on this year s Festival. 1. We re going back to our traditional Fall Festival this year. The event will be held on Sunday, September 23, beginning after 10:30 Mass and concluding with the sweepstakes drawing at approximately 5:00 PM. This year s Festival will include all of your long time favorites including our famous spaghetti dinner, a pie shop, theme baskets, children s games, craft fair, mercantile store, bingo, tacos, hot dogs, pop and beer and much more. 2. A key part of the Festival is our sweepstakes drawing. Sweepstakes tickets will be mailed out in mid-august. Each parishioner will receive 20 tickets for the sweepstakes. There is no purchase required, but a donation of $5.00 per ticket is suggested. At the Festival, we will draw for a grand prize of $1,500, one prize of $500 and five prizes of $100 each. 3. We are presently collecting donations for theme baskets. We are currently looking for someone to chair the bingo for the Festival.
